MATERIAL CREATION WITH SUBSTANCE DESIGNER WITH PETE SEKULA
In today's modern digital art pipelines, procedural generation of materials has become the norm. By utilizing Allegorithmic's Substance Designer, an artist can meet the expectation of quality from Triple-A video games, CG films, and product design.
But how do you get from manipulating an image of a black and white checkerboard all the way to a physically-based ancient brick wall material with grout and cracks? In Material Creation with Substance Designer, Peter Sekula will guide you on philosophies and approaches on procedural material creation and how Substance Designer gives you the building blocks to deliver a finished material. |

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR

Peter Sekula is an experienced senior 3D artist who specializes in art direction, level art and composition, lighting, and materials for video games. He spent over 12 years at Ubisoft where he worked on blockbuster console titles such as the Tom Clancy's: Ghost Recon series, Rainbow Six series, Far Cry 4, and most recently Tom Clancy's: The Division. Taking the next steps in his career, Peter soon began working at home in his free time out of a desire to bring Triple-A quality content and experiences to the indie gaming market. He founded his company, Quantum Theory Entertainment, in 2012 and is currently working full time to hone his craft and educate others with his skill and experience. Composing game worlds from the camera's perspective, texturing them to get a high level of fidelity, then illuminating them to bring them to life are skills that Peter greatly enjoys. Check out his website at www.qt-ent.com for examples and demos of his work.
TESTIMONIALS
Peter has been an great professor, Substance Designer is a complex software to teach and he has made an excellent course. From the basics to advanced use of Substance, thanks to his classes I can say that I have a good understanding of the software and it's possibilities.

Pete was really great instructor. What I loved about his teaching, is that his lessons plan made us progress really fast. He found perfect balance between the difficulty to make us grow, which requires to work hard and constantly, at the same time not crossing the line where we would be discouraged by the difficulty. This was not the class of babysitting, this was the class where you can achieve a lot and make great progress if you are persistent and work hard. This is what the industry is lack of, as many classes and courses are just some babysitting, explaining the interface for 2 hours and giving you lessons you can find on youtube and complete in 30 min. This one was demanding, but rewarding accordingly.

I loved this class. Mold3D has a very structured course outline which is amazing and the instructor was great. In these aspects, it's the best school from the ones I know.
